5 ANDROID/IOS GAMES THAT ARE TOTALLY STILL WORTH YOUR TIME IN 2020

Ever since the inception of what we know today as the mobile platform, the mobile gaming space has been a much overlooked one because of the nature and limitations of the platform. To begin with, gaming was never really the sole aim of mobile devices. Though mobile and thereby a regularly available companion, it wasn’t as powerful as other dedicated gaming platforms available. Also, control wise, it was found to be really lacking when compared to other dedicated platforms.Fast forward to 2020 though and with the advent of very powerful mobile hardware that can rival dedicated gaming consoles and you can immediately see that things are looking quite different for mobile gaming. With the mobile platform having the highest amount of users of any platform worldwide and therefore a much wider audience, The future seems bright and really promising. If you have not really been keen about mobile gaming in the past, you’d be amazed how far it has come. However, here are 5 mobile games that are making waves and topping charts right now and a good consideration for anyone willing to get into the mobile gaming space.

1. FORTNITE

 Download Fortnite for Android Here.

It feels a little out of place to include fortnite in a list like this in October 2020. Reason being that it literally went from being readily available on the Google play store and on the app store to being almost inaccessible on both the android and IOS. However, we expect this to be temporary and we  do hope the situation changes in the near future and so, it is indeed a valid addition to the list. Though, Android users can still access the game directly from Epic games, IOS users would have to wait until the legal ruckus between Epic games and apple is over.Enough with all the boring jabbering though,we all need no one to tell us that fortnite mobile used to be the real deal on both the android and IOS garnering millions of players each day before all the unfortunate legal downpour came crashing down. It features the now much popularized 100 player battle royale mode like every other shooter game in its category but it does so in a much less serious and much more colourful and creative atmosphere. Fortnite stylistic and cartoony approach and the amount of work Epic put into making the game mobile friendly earned it a place in the heart of mobile gamers and we all can’t wait for the true king of mobile royale to takes its true place again.

2. PUBG MOBILE

Google play: 4.1/5

App store: 4.4/5

PUBG which originally released on PC and consoles has had huge success on its arrival to the mobile scene. Infact, it quickly became one of the most popular mobile shooters available within a short time of release boasting of a whooping 50million players playing every single day. It includes a 100 player battle royale mode which takes place on a small island. Players strife to be the last fighter standing on the map by employing various tactics, stocking up on gear and ammo or even simply waiting it out in the covers of a building if you’re into that sort of thing. Keep in mind though that a shrinking play area mechanic is employed which forces players to a given portion of the map at any particular time. PUBG Mobile is a testament that mobile games can be just as competitive and fun as other games if done right and is a great venture to show your survival and innate military skills.

3. CALL OF DUTY MOBILE

Google play: 4.5/5

App store: 4.8/5

The game that forever revolutionized and perfected FPS multiplayer games finally makes its way to the mobile scene and it has done so with a huge bang. The 2009 iteration of the franchise totally changed how we see and play these types of games and it’s only fair mobile gamers get a bit of the fun. COD Mobile brings something truly new and refreshing for mobile enthusiasts while staying true to its name. The graphics are truly stunning for a mobile game, the maps well thought out just as well as every single piece of article in the game. Simply put it is a rebirth of the classic call of duty that graced 2009 only on a much more mobile platform. It includes an online FPS PvP mode made popular by previous games. It also includes a 100-player battle royale mode made popular by similar rival games: PUBG and Fortnite. Call of duty is a really good game to pick up as it does a lot of things right and it is a really fun way to pass off time.

4. AMONG US

Google play: 4.5/5

App store: 4.4/5

Developed by American indie Developer/game studio, Innersloth, Among us is a game that is very much different from every other game found on the list, reason being that it took a very unique and rarely depicted genre known as social deduction and honed it to near perfection in its execution. The space-themed game was released in 2018 but it wasn’t until 2020 that it gained a much deserved fame and gargantuan player base. You play with 3 to 9 other players as either a crewmate or impostor and depending on your role, you’re given specific quests to complete. Impostors which are much fewer/a predetermined number are tasked with eliminating and sabotaging the crew without drawing any suspicion. The much larger crewmates are tasked with working together to find and cast the impostor from among them.Think you’ve found out the Impostor? Quickly call for an emergency meeting and discuss/convince others. Are you being suspected of being the impostor? Use your persuasion and manipulation skills to let others off your back or simply prove your innocence. For me, the killer feature of the game is the cross platform play as you can play with friends operating on totally different platforms .You can play the game from anything like your PC to your smartphone(android/IOS) device. Keep in mind though that the true experience of this game lies with playing with friends either over local Wi-Fi or a private lobby. There is a ton of fun to be had with this game and I really hope you give it a try today.

5. ASPHALT 9: LEGENDS

Google Play: 4.4/5

App Store: 4.7/5

Asphalt is arguably the king of mobile racing games as the franchise contains some of mobile’s most iconic racing titles. Gameloft’s take on the racing genre sees players step into the tracks with a host of cars and a ton of killer content and challenges to go with. Asphalt 9 is simply arcade racing at it’s finest(almost…LOL).Some problems users have encountered with the game includes the in-app purchase and the recently included auto go mechanic which takes a way the players ability to control vehicle acceleration. Though, it is not by any means perfect as it has it’s own fair share of shortcomings, it is still guaranteed to offer a ton of fun racing experience and we think it’s a good title to try.

A few worthy mentions you should probably give a try if you’re not quite satisfied with the list above are:

Genshin Impact(Also available to play on the PC and mac)

Critical Ops

Alto's Odyssey

Roblox
