TOP 10 GAMES EVERY PC GAMER SHOULD OWN

PC gaming has no doubt come a long way since it’s inception,so far in fact that gaming has since surpassed movies and all other forms of entertainment to become the most lucrative entertainment industry in recent times. With more people getting into the gaming community every single day, it is important to note some of the most fun and popular games that should be included in every gamer’s library. With that said, if you’re new in the gaming world and just want to see which interesting games to start off your gaming journey, then you’re at the right place. However, if you’re like me and just love reading articles related to video games, then you should definitely stick around too. So in my opinion and In no particular order, here are top 10 games every PC gamer should own.

1. MASS EFFECT TRILOGY

Steam: 8/10(average of all three games)

Metascore: 91%(average of all three games)

Mass Effect trilogy refers to three games in a series that is called Mass Effect. It is important to play all three games to get the most out of the story and experience. In Mass Effect, you’re let into the boots of a Commander Shepard in a bid to save the galaxy from a strange new enemy: The reaper forces which you’ll discover aren’t so new after-all. Mass Effect is such a great RPG that it is considered one of the greatest gaming trilogies of all times. Mass Effect 2 is hands down the best game in the trilogy as it executed a memorable gameplay and story. There were a lot of criticisms concerning Mass Effect 3 but in the end, it was an okay game to play.

2. GRAND THEFT AUTO 5

Steam: 9/10

Metascore: 96%

At this point, the GTA franchise from Rockstar Games is probably already a household name and for good reasons. GTA 3 which was released in 2001 totally changed the way free roam open world games were made, GTA 4, though wasn’t a very good PC port still managed to capture the hearts of many with its excellent story and really good graphics at the time. However, GTA 5 being the latest game in the franchise managed to nail almost everything right and fixed everything that was wrong with the previous game. It’s got an absolutely crazy amount of content, the online multiplayer mode is excellent and the story execution is almost primed to perfection. It goes without saying that GTA 5 is the king of modern games and a must have for anyone willing to explore the beautiful world of gaming today.

3. THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT

Steam: 10/10

Metascore: 93%

The Witcher 3 is a fantastic open world game, what one would call the perfect single player experience if there’s anything like that. Though not the first game in the series, you don’t really need to play the other two games in the series to enjoy this one. Though, It is something I’ll suggest anyone do as the other games are also quite phenomenal. Though It is worth noting that the witcher 1 hasn’t really aged well and it might be a drag to play at this point even though it’s equally an excellent game. The witcher 2 on the other hand is still quite shiny and a ton of fun to play if you haven’t already.

4. COUNTER STRIKE: GLOBAL OFFENSIVE

Steam: 9/10

Metascore: 88%

Valve’s take on the multiplayer first person shooter genre has been a blessing to gaming as a whole.

Released in 2012, it has made waves since then as it boasts of an estimated 11 million players per month. CS:GO is also currently free to play since December 2018 with valve getting revenue from cosmetic items. in my opinion it Is one of the best multiplayer shooters to get into because of its sheer variety , large player base and amount of content available In-game.

5. RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2

Steam: 7/10

Metascore: 93%

Another masterpiece from Rockstar, RDR2 is simply a marvel to look at. It pays an unparalleled attention to detail in almost all aspect, the graphics are beyond stunning, the world feels very  much alive and commemorates the excellent and engaging story. What,s more, the characters are all relatable and interesting. It is really amazing the crazy amount of detail in this game from the diverse wild life to the various interaction one can have with the environment. In fact, playing the game for me was like reliving the cruel wild west era in all it’s glory and that’s how immersive we want our games to be. If you have never seen RDR2 in action before, you are surely missing out.

6. THE ELDER SCROLLS 5: SKYRIM

Steam: 9/10

Metascore: 94%

The Elder scrolls series have been known to contain the best of the best RPG games. In fact, in the RPG department, you could argue that no one does it better than Bethesda. However, the glory of the franchise lies in the latest game in the series: Skyrim. Released as far back as 2011, it is still used as a blueprint of what RPG games should be like till date. A main feature of skyrim is the astonishingly large amount of mods that are available to get for free and it leads to the longevity of the game as a whole. If I was stuck on an island and had to choose a game to play the whole time, it’d definitely be skyrim just because of the unending vast amount of content available to experience.

7. MINECRAFT

Steam: not available

Metascore: 93%

According to GamesRadar: “Minecraft stands as a remarkable achievement - not only a well rounded experience but a chance for players to experiment, explore and freely reshape their environment to an almost ludicrous level”. They then went on further to say: “ If you own a computer and haven’t given Minecraft a try, you’re missing one of the most unique experiences of this generation”. I couldn’t have said it better because the minecraft experience is something that is fairly hard to explain but picking up the game would reveal all the charm of this game. It is a game suitable for kids and adult alike and it has been known to build on one’s creative skills. Your own world of minecraft could be pretty much how you want it to be and there’s surely no limit to the amount of fun you can get from this masterpiece.

8. INSIDE

Steam: 10/10

Metascore: 87%

Inside is simply puzzle platforming adventure at it’s best. Developed by Playdead and released in 2016, it received well deserved accolades from both fans and critics alike. You take control of a boy in a dystopic world solving puzzles and avoiding death. One major flair of inside is the way it is able to tell a rather strange but beautiful story without a single dialogue. Also the environment and art direction is quite phenomenal using the slightest moves and color to convey a ton of emotions. Inside has been said to be the best game of all time by many. I don’t really know about that but it is surely the most immersive and fun puzzle platformer I’ve ever played.

9. OVERWATCH

Steam: not available

Metascore:91%

Overwatch is a highly stylized team based shooter set on earth in the near future. The beauty of overwatch is the level of striking diversity it offers. Explore each of the various characters, learn their strengths and weaknesses and find the one that best suites your play style. The game offers a perfect haven for any type of play style and it is a welcome relieve and a breath of fresh air from all the military shooters that have clogged the PC gaming multiplayer scene since forever.

10. FORZA HORIZON 4

Steam: not available

Metascore: 88%

Last in the horizon series, last on the list but definitely not the least is Forza Horizon 4, Microsoft’s front runner to the racing scene. Forza horizon 4 is one of the most polished racing games out there. The open world is truly beautiful and engaging for even a racing game, the cars are really wonderful to look at, the level of customization available to the player and the overall presentation of the game is also well done. Against other racing games, FH4 is truly different and deserving of the top spot of the best racing game out there as it manage to deliver the best features in a no compromise style. Microsoft has truly done a good job with this one and we hope to see more racing games like this in the horizon.

So there goes my opinion of the top 10 games every PC gamer should own. Just below each game are the current steam and metacritic scores to show you how well the game performed among users and critics alike. I’m just one person and I definitely haven’t played every game in the world so this list might be a little limited to the scope of games I’ve played. However, If you have a different opinion on this topic feel free to let us know down in the comments.
